Entebbe, Uganda – The Entebbe Ghetto Youth Festival has emerged as a powerful platform for empowerment, health advocacy, and social change among marginalized youth. Held at Entebbe Comprehensive Senior Secondary School in Nakiwogo Fishing Landing Site, the festival brought together over 700 young people, political leaders, and health professionals to address pressing challenges such as poverty, stigma, and limited access to sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services.

Organized by the Entebbe Ghetto Youth Association in partnership with Family Medical Point and Voices for Health and Development, the festival tackled critical issues like teenage pregnancies, high HIV infection rates, and unsafe abortions. Polyne Nabwire from Family Medical Point emphasized the need for youth inclusion in healthcare planning, while Babula Emmanuel, co-founder of the association, challenged harmful stereotypes, asserting, “Young people in ghettos are decent and talented.”
Beyond health advocacy, the festival called for economic opportunities, with Emmanuel stressing the need for decent jobs and government support. Juliet Apio from Voices for Health and Development underscored the importance of youth participation in policy-making to ensure accessible and relevant health services.
The festival showcased the resilience and potential of Entebbe’s youth, reinforcing the need for inclusive policies and investment in their future. As it becomes an annual event, it stands as a commitment to empowering young people and breaking cycles of poverty and stigma. The message is clear: the future belongs to the youth, and they must be equipped with the tools and opportunities to thrive.

May I just say what a relief to discover an individual who genuinely
understands what they are discussing on the net. You certainly know how to bring
a problem to light and make it important. A lot more people need to read this and understand this side of the story.
I can’t believe you are not more popular given that you definitely possess the gift.
