  • FMP Participates In Exchange Learning Visit To RADO’s Community Dialogue Program

Family Medical Point (FMP) conducted  a learning visit to  Rural Ambitions Development Organization (RADO) in Kampala, on 16 July 2025, as part of an ongoing initiative to share approaches and strengthen collaboration with civil society organizations advancing sexual reproductive health and rights inclusive of sexual pleasure in most disadvantaged communities.

During the visit, the FMP team participated in RADO’s Community Dialogue activity held in Katogo in  Bwaise, a Kampala suburb. Partner organizations –  Voices for Health and Development and Tusitukire Wamu group also attended the engagement.

The community dialogue, which was attended by  over 200 women and men, explored how RADO implements sexual pleasure programming in urban slum communities of Bwaise. FMP listened to diverse community perspectives including  participants defining sexual pleasure in their own terms and understanding.

Discussions brought to light unsafe sexual practices, with some community members sharing how  they use vegetables like cucumbers, carrots, and eggplants for self-pleasure often unaware of the potential health risks. FMP’s Head of Programs, Nabwire Polyne, emphasized the importance of making safe and informed choices when exploring sexual pleasure. She guided participants on the correct use of condoms, lubricants, and other sexual health products as safer alternatives, promoting fulfilling experiences without harm.

“Enjoying sexual pleasure should go hand-in-hand with protecting oneself from unintended outcomes like STIs and unplanned pregnancies. Consent remains essential in ensuring individuals feel safe, respected, and in control of their bodies,” Polyne said.
