Family Medical Point, in partnership with Marie Stopes Uganda and Mirembe Medical Center Kigungu, conducted a community outreach on Friday, 8th May, 2026, at Kigungu Landing Site, reaching over 500 women and girls with accurate sexual and reproductive health information and services in a safe and stigma-free environment.
The outreach brought together women, adolescent girls, and key populations, including female sex workers, who often face challenges in accessing timely and respectful healthcare services. Through health education sessions, counseling, open discussions, and direct service delivery, participants gained access to essential sexual and reproductive health information and services in a safe and supportive environment.

During the outreach, services such as family planning and side effect management, STI screening and management, post-abortion care, cervical cancer screening, and legal guidance referrals were provided to the community members who attended the outreach.
Fishing communities such as Kigungu Landing Site often experience limited access to essential sexual and reproductive healthcare services and accurate health information. Women and girls, including vulnerable and underserved groups, may face social and economic barriers that affect their access to timely healthcare and support. By taking these services directly to the community, the outreach improved access to information and care while promoting healthier and more informed communities.
The outreach also emphasized the importance of routine HIV testing and prevention. Women and girls were encouraged to know their HIV status early and seek timely care when needed. Condoms and lubricants were distributed, alongside practical demonstrations and education on their correct and consistent use to help reduce the risk of HIV transmission, sexually transmitted infections, and unintended pregnancies.

Family Medical Point remains committed to extending essential health services and accurate health information to underserved communities like Kigungu Landing Site. Through continued partnerships, community engagement, and outreach programs, Family Medical Point aims to empower more women, girls, and vulnerable populations with the knowledge, care, and support they need to live healthier and safer lives.
