As part of The CarePlus Project  Quarterly Review, FMP team  reflected on the implementation  and identified action points to accelerate support to partner frontline medical centers in the fishing communities to deliver the much needed SRH services.

The meeting, held at Banana Village on 30 /01 / 2023,  was attended by the CarePlus Project Manager, Coordinator, service providers, finance team and FMP directors.

During the meeting, the Project Coordinator Ms. Amon Eunice shared progress of activities that had been conducted including recruitment of partner facilities, VCATs, recruitment of community peer mobilizers and volunteers, production of job aids and an integrated community outreach that was conducted at Kasenyi landing site on 1st and 2nd December, 2022.

She also raised the need for routine visits and continuous training as most staff from the partner facilities were unskilled and feared the ongoing hostility and stigma related to service provision of comprehensive SRH services.

Unsafe abortion remains a challenge with enormous  physical, mental, social and financial burdens to women in fishing communities and health systems. CarePlus addresses the information gap to end unsafe abortion morbidity and mortality.
