Family Medical Point trained 10 Ssengas and 4 Community Based Mobilizers (CPMs) on Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights, on 30th July 2025, at K hotels in Entebbe, as part of the recently launched Pleasure Project.
Ssengas (Aunties) play a key role and are a trusted source in the sexual and reproductive health information dissemination particularly amongst the sex workers in fishing communities and or fishing landing sites that the Pleasure Project targets. The training is purposed to sharpen the skills of the ssengas to enable them to deliver accurate sexual and reproductive health information to sex workers. participants were drawn from Guuda, Nakiwogo, Kigungu and Kasenyi all located in Entebbe area in Wakiso district.

In one of the session presentations, Ms. Nabwire Polyne, Head of Program at FMP challenged Ssengas to embrace the complexity of sexual reproductive health rights and remain authentic in guiding the several people who seek sexual health guidance from them including sex workers.
“Be kind, when you’re out there informing, teaching and helping your community members. Let the stigma not deter you from teaching correct information and the hard topics on SRHR and sexual pleasure which plays an instrumental role in safe sex,” Ms. Polyne said.
