We are proud to have joined hands with MarieStopes Uganda to improve the quality of Sexual and Reproductive health services we offer to the communities we serve.

We are now a BlueStar member facility that aims at scaling up coverage of high quality, Sexual reproductive health and services in order to reach the underserved communities in a cost effective consumer accessible and sustainable manner.

Our focal person Enoc Cedikol is currently undertaking a capacity building training and will be the focal point person in our service delivery.

“I now have broader knowledge on Family Planning and some of the best quality healthcare for adolescents and mothers during pregnancy, delivery and after birth. I have also widened my understanding on patients’ rights to choice, privacy, SRHR information and I am set to forefront this service delivery.” He said after the first training session.

The ongoing training entails detailed topics ranging from sexual and reproductive health rights and services, infection prevention, counselling and guidance and post abortion care for women and adolescent girls who are facing devastating challenges especially during the covid-19 pandemic.

Uganda has a predominantly young population with 53% projected to be under the age of 18years. This means that more than half of the country is comprised of young individuals who are sexually active and face a lot of sexual and reproductive health challenges where unwanted teenage pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections and unsafe abortion cannot be exempted. This can have serious implications on young people’s health and well fare as well as the economic development of Uganda.

Young people (10-24 years of age) around the world face tremendous challenges of meeting their sexual and reproductive needs. Inadequate access to health information and services, as well as inequitable gender norms, contributes to lack of knowledge and awareness about sexuality and basic human needs.

Joining the BlueStar healthcare network has leveraged FMP to tackle some of the above stated challenges and become an excellent centre for Sexual and reproductive health information as well as quality services for the young women and girls living in Wakiso District.
